Forage to Feast - Sunday, March 2nd 2025, 11am – 2:30pm

Come and celebrate the Autumn bounty in beautiful Lithgow, surrounded by nature and art in this two part wild food session.

Learn how to identify, harvest then feast on edible wild food plants with environmental educator Diego Bonetto and stylist, cook and weed convert Marnee Fox who together are Forage to Feast.
You will take a walk with Diego and discover the abundance of wild edibles to be found underfoot. Woven with migrant stories & sustainable tips, you will discover ways to safely harvest wild ingredients and enrich your diet with vitamins and minerals. You will then sit down, surrounded by gorgeous art in the inspiring Gang Gang gallery, to a wild food degustation presented by Marnee. As this is also the start of the areas wild mushroom season, Marnee will be offering some delicious mushroom inspired courses too. Limited tickets available to ensure the best experience for all, so be quick.

The foraging tour with Diego will begin at 11am followed by th sit down wild food degustation in the gallery with Marnee.

Included in this exciting 3.5 hour edible adventure you will: 

- Learn to positively identify up to 15 common edible plants while taking a leisurely yet informative stroll with Diego Bonetto through the streets and green spaces surrounding the gallery.      

  -  Discover ways to safely harvest from the urban 'wild’ and have your mind blown at just how much food and medicine surrounds us in everyday settings.

  -  Receive a copy of Diego's Foragers Guide. A handy booklet focussing on 16 common plants, labelled ‘weeds’.

  -  Follow up information straight to your inbox about all plants discussed with links so you can continue your wild food adventure.

  -  Enjoy a delicious and surprising eight course wild food degustation created by Marnee Fox, served at a long table within the gallery, utilising some of the plants discussed with Diego on your walk. Lunch will begin with a welcome wild cocktail in the gallery.

 *Organic wine from Tamburlaine wines will also be available by the glass or bottle at an additional price.

*Personalised copies of Diegos best selling book ‘Eat Weeds’ will be available for $40

About Your hosts

Diego is an edible weeds advocate based in Sydney, most famous for his offering of urban foraging workshops. Building on the knowledge acquired while growing up on a farm in Italy, Diego introduce people to the ever-present food and medicine plants that surround us. He collaborates extensively with chefs, herbalists, environmentalists and cultural workers promoting new understanding of what the environment has to offer. You see weed, Diego sees food.
Diego has received a substantial amount of media including Gardening Australia and Better Homes and Garden appearances, articles on Marie Claire, GQ Australia, SMH, and segments on ABC and SBS.

Marnee Fox is a creative force working as an interior stylist and decorator and also runs regular ‘Foodies Forage’ workshops. Marnee’s extensive and varied background spanning art, fashion and hospitality enables her to merge disciplines and create layered experiences utilising space, aesthetics, taste and environment.
Marnee’s foodie skill set was honed both here and overseas, through years of running kitchens, catering for events and hosting magical dinner parties which she confesses is her idea of heaven.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are we going to be harvesting plants?
No, we will learn about plants. We will only collect a few leaves and flowers here and there and with those, we will discuss ID features. The main aim of the workshop is to empower you with identification skills so that when you go back home you can recognise with confidence some useful plants in your own garden/surroundings.

Are we going to scramble in the wilderness?
No, no bush bashing. We will walk on even ground and sometimes might walk up a grass field, that's it. Bring your walking shoes and you will be fine.

Can we try the plants?
Yes, after the walk you will sit down for a delicious degustation that utilizes many of the plants you’ve looked at on the walk.

What if it looks like it’s going to rain on the day?
Plants love the rain and nature’s salad bar will be yummier for it. If there is a chance of rain we will let you know and will likely go ahead, just bring an umbrella or your rain gear. If it is scheduled to rain hard or with strong winds we will consider cancelling the workshop and either refund your ticket or move your booking to another date.

What if I change my mind or can no longer attend?
Please make sure you can attend before finalising your booking. I understand that unexpected events happen, so in case you can no longer come, pass on your ticket to a friend. See this as when you buy a concert ticket. If you cannot go anymore, give a present to someone you know they would enjoy it.

Can I ask specific questions on the workshop?
Absolutely. We love questions and if you have any burning ones just let us know on the day and we will endeavour to provide you with answers or follow up with links that would help in your quest.
